Vista issues?

I appreciate your help enormously…

3. The display is 1900 X 1200………which is real small since I use an external USB Logitech comfy laser KB & mouse………When I try decreasing the resolution……the desktop icons become distorted & names which are underlined get blurred/darkened…… on reboot I get a windows message displayed that 1900x 1200 is the ideal resolution for this machine so please change……how can I fix this issue……How can I decrease the resolution , without destroying the awesome display /colors/fonts?

 1. My Sony Vaio has great 1680 X1050 display……….easy to read etc…………desktop icons, fonts all have a super display despite that it uses an Intel graphics accelerator vs. this which has a 256 MB graphic card.

 2. How can one view the total Commit Charge/Page file size, on the bottom of task manager as in XP?

What graphics card do you have on the system with the resolution problem?

Are you using the Windows Driver for it or the Vendors Driver?

Mr. Negeltu you indeed are a very smart man & know Vista to the extreme…

Nvidia & using Dell recommended driver.

Well thanks for the compliment, but I only knew how to change the folder views… the disk cleanup problem was a solution from other people. ;D

So you have an NVidia gpu… What model? Also… Vista 32bit or 64bit?

I have the option of Rt click & personalization, NVIDIA CP…that looks too advance for a new bie like me…than System >System Properties > Adavanced > Performance > Visual effects…again a tough cookie…

When I try personaliztion & change the dpi from 96 to custom 100 or 115…desktop gets scrwed up.

Vista 32 bit…Nvidia GeForce Go 7900 GS.

I see. Ok… gimme a few and I will get you a link to NVidias newest drivers and see if that helps.

What do you think abt this…

 1. How can one view the total Commit Charge/Page file size, on the bottom of task manager as in XP?

I tried the newer one at Dells site but didnt resolve the issue.

You can try NVidia’s newest driver for that card here http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce_notebook_winvista_179.48_beta.html

Uninstall your current driver then reboot before you install this one.

I see. What version was it?

I dont recall the exact version but was relased in 2008 & size was 55 MB…this one is 122 MB…woh.

Present one.

That is older. I believe I would try the new driver direct from NVidia. Again…make sure you uninstall the current one and reboot before installing the new one.

What are your views to for Commit Charge to be displayed?

Ok Sir as you say lol…

I’m not aware of any way to make commit charge show in Vista’s Task Manager :frowning: Sorry.

Not a problem.

How can I read this with ease from a distance of 5 feet?

Start Menu > “All Programs” > “Accessories” > “Ease of Access” > “Magnifier”?
OR make your text larger in your browser
That or maybe try the new driver and lower your resolution.
