Vista OS Windows mail sends mulitple emails when I attach .jpg file

My new computer, a Pc with Vista sends multiple emails when I attach a .jpg file. Avast tries to stop the email with a message of a potential virus.
I senT a .zip file and the first one got through…the second was stopped with the same message of a potential virus.
I am using the free home addition…do I need to upgrade?

Thanks for the input. I solved the problem (for now at least) by installing Mozilla Thunderbird. Goodbye Windows Mail!

Potential infection is managed by the Heuristic settings of the Internet mail provider or Outlook plugin. There are two tabs of settings for each of these providers. You can set them accordingly.
But, if the file is really infected (an exploit), then it would be better to submit it to VirusTotal and check the results.

Das habe Ich ein bischen verstanden…I don’t know what “Heuristic settings” are. Where can I submit to VirusTotal? I have my email address posted can you please email me?
Thanks,

It’s better to keep on forums.
Left click the ‘a’ blue icon on system tray.
Click ‘Details’ button to expand options.
Click on Internet mail provider at left and then Customize button.
The Heuristic tab of settings will appear.
Do the same for Outlook plugin.

Virus total is here: VirusTotal
Submit the file and let us know the result.

Why does it send multiple e-mails if you attach a file? Are you sending it to multiple recipients, or… ?

The reason I am here is to find out why mulitple emails are being sent to the same receipent. I am only sending one email to one person. The program is sending 2-7 of the same emails to the same person. I submitted a file to VirusTotal and had zero infections found. I also found the Heuristic tabs. Both the Outook and Internet email settings are on medium.

It’s probably due to this option:
