Vista RC1 x86 and Avast - not working

Same thing happens to me too.

In fact the latest Vista build seems to be causing alot more problems for me than fixing them. My 2Wire H1800 USB modem used to work fine in the previous 5472 build but now it works on and off and I get the Code 10 error

I’m downloading 5536 now…
But for what I can see, I won’t delete the old build I have  ::slight_smile:

I’m having the same error.

Windows is blocking Avast from starting the service. If I try to start the service I get Driver is blocked due to compatibility issues.

Please advise when you have a work around or an update.

Thanks

Maybe Microsoft have dicided that antivrus software is no longer necessary in Vista

sorry no speak english
idem proble for same user
on vista 5536 avast not run driver … AAVM detect RPC error…

from previous build vista avast work fine

AVAST RULEZZZZZ

“nod32 trial for the moment bug avast LOL”

OK folks, I just got some feedback from MS, it seems that the avast driver was “hard blocked” BY MISTAKE, hopefully, the issue will be remedied in the next Vista build.

Thanks
Vlk

Are you saying that is useless to try to use Vista 5536?
I think I’ve downloaded it without any other reason than test it… and, of course, I want avast with it…
Should we wait for the next version? Is it the only solution?

Well, it’s not useless, but avast won’t run on it. Its driver is simply blocked from loading (and I don’t mean to find out how to hack this stuff as the blocking is not intentional)

I can’t use avast, so, for me, as you know, it’s useless:cry:
What can I do without avast?

Well, hope this blocking theach you how to ‘prevent’ this kind of block by a malware or other anti-antivirus piece of software…

This is a very stupid MISTAKE by MS.

Anyway, there is not a possibility to new beta testers… :-\

I like totally have the same problem too. =(

so there is NO way we can fix this problem so that we can do system test?

will it be fixed for the actual RC1 coming up… or is that code already frozen?

No… :‘( :’(

I’m not sure… I hope RC1 won’t have this stupid error :frowning:

I’ve got a message that avast! is not compatible with this Vista RC1. Same thing when I tried to install NOD32. It won’t even install.

Different story with AVG though… installation went perfect and AVG works flawlessly on new Vista build.

Compatibility report regarding avast! :

AVG installed and working (click on thumbnail for full size image):

I see AVG still has that ugly GUI …

Yes, 1970s-cartoon-style ;D ;D ;D However, it works with new Vista build, and we still need something to protect our PCs… it’s free and it’s working… what can I ask more ? ;D

Sasha, is this Vista 5552 version?

No that’s 5536 RC1… as far as I know, the latest one. I just downloaded it directly from Microsoft server yesterday. I don’t think they would put some old version. Bob posted a link somewhere in this forum. I was Beta tester, so I used my old registration number as suggested by Microsoft.

It’s from here:

EDIT: You can see Vista’s build number on my second screenshot I posted up there…

Thanks Sasha… some users in other forums posted 5552… it could be a typo…

No I can’t… It was into shadows…
