Hi,

Did you have another Antivirus on your computer, if so, how did you uninstall it?
Could Vista view Avast as a antivirus before your problem?
Did you restart after you downloaded Avast?
I have used avast for years. I have been having the problem for a while. I know it used to be ok and I am not sure what caused it to occur. Maybe I should uninstall avast and reinstall it.
If you want to do that, follow these instructions just to be on the safe side:
Uninstall Vai Add/Remove Programs
Reboot
Use Avast! Removal Tool
Reboot
Redownload Avast!
Reboot
Do you know what files you downloaded before the problem happened?
You could try resetting the security centre, using the third tool from the bottom, posted by one of the helpers here, RejZor.
This is not unusual in the Windows security centre. It gets itself all bewildered sometimes, the poor thing.
