Folks,
I just installed the Vista SP1, and when the system restarted (and finished install), I tried to bring up my Outlook 2007 client.
I got “Cannot scan message body” with an error of 80004004
AavmCheckFile failed
I can’t open any emails in Outlook 2007 due to this.
Any ideas here?

Try starting Outlook in safe mode!
From the command prompt:
outlook.exe /safe
Warning: This should start Outlook with no addins, including your virus scanner.
Does that work?
Can you please post the contents of the file \data\log\error.log?

Yes, this seems to work – certainly no error messages from AVAST pop up, and I seem to be able to get to the emails now.

BTW, I CAN open the emails, but I have to wait until all of the mail has been downloaded to my inbox because the avast errors about scanning were slowing down Outlook so much that it wasn’t opening the files.
Hmm, this doesn’t look good at all… Could you please ZIP the whole LOG folder and send it to my email address for further analysis?

BTW I suppose the problem doesn’t go away even if you restart the computer, right?

Correct, it does NOT go away if I restart the PC (I did this a couple of times before posting!).
I will zip the log and send it in a few minutes. Thanks for the help!
