vista will not boot, stops at aswrwrt

Hi ppl, I have a vista laptop from hp, and since yesterday I cannot boot anymore. After starting I get the microsoft windsows loading green bar, after a while I hear a system beep, and then the screen goes black. In safe mode it tries to load windows files, and stops at aswRvrt.sys.
I saw more ppl have this problem, but solutions seem to differ. How can I proceed? Unfortunately I dont have a system restore point :o
Thanks for any help.

Scroll down to “If you cannot Boot the computer”

Eddy, I know Essexboy is on vacation will you ping him on this one ?

MySteam12, per Eddy please post the FRST logs.
Do not do anything else to PC except try to reboot into F8 and choose LAST KNOWN GOOD CONFIG…see if that works.

If not, then post what happens and go thru and generate FRST logs.

Hi Eddy and thekochs, thanks for your reply and help,

LAST KNOWN GOOD CONFIG didn’t work(gives endless loading). As for the getting logs, I can’t boot from cd - cd’s not working.
Perhaps, there is a way to do the same manipulating with flash?
I saw this in other topic:
Download the following three programmes to your desktop :

  1. Rufus
    For 32bit systems
  2. Windows Vista RC
  3. Farbar Recovery Scan Tool
But link with Windows Vista RC is dead(

You’ll have to do from USB stick…attached is overview of the flow/TTD…of course your is Vista, the example shows W7.
I will PM you link that Essexboy sent me…download correct OS/Version.
Essexboy will be back Tuesday I think…I know you want fix now but if you start playing with things or try other items others may post on other Forums it may impede/preclude his ability to fix at that point.
