Vista won't boot, hangs on aswRvrt.sys

Hi all,

My Vista PC wont boot even in safe mode. It hangs on aswRvrt.sys.
I’ve followed instructions I’ve found on here and attached my FRST.txt
Can someone help me with a FIXLIST.txt please?

Download the attached fixlist.txt file and save it to the USB drive with FRST64.exe on it.

NOTE. It’s important that both files, FRST/FRST64 and fixlist.txt are in the same location or the fix will not work.

Run FRST/FRST64 by right clicking on the FRST64.exe file, selecting “Run as Administrator…”.

If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.

When finished FRST will generate a log on the USB drive (Fixlog.txt). Please post the log in your next reply.

Please note that I am only able to boot in recovery mode, so I did not have all the options. I do not have Whitelist options: Processes and Internet. I did have KnownDLLs and checked that option. Also I did not have the Optional Scan Addition.txt option.

I’ve tried to reboot and it still won’t start in normal mode and it now hangs on crcdisk.sys when booting in safe mode.

Are you getting to Recovery Mode by use of the OS install disk?

Have you tried a System Restore in the Recovery Mode?

You did fine on the Fixlist run; the picture was just to show what button to press as I’ve had other users press the other three instead.

I’m getting into recovery mode by pressing the F8 key during startup. I don’t have an OS install disk for this laptop.

I did try running System Restore before running Fixlist but it wouldn’t run. I haven’t tried it since running the Fixlist.

Any suggestions about how to proceed?

Next step; checking the hard drive.

Go to the Command Prompt in Recovery Mode. Type in chkdsk /F and press Enter.
