I’ve excluded both my VMWare program folders and the VM machine folders. I notice that when I set exclusions, the screen says this is only for scheduled and on-demand scans. I’m looking to disable real time protection entirely on anything running in VM (workstation and machines). These machines are hardened and internal only, used for demonstrations and have a virus exposure likelihood of .000000000000000000000000000000000000001%. Other AV applications get horribly lost when virtualization is in play, just trying to ensure I get Avast set up correctly to avoid the heartache of another antivirus program.
While I have never used Avast!/VMWare together, I have used Avast!/Virtualbox for some time now, and it has never given any of my 3 virtual machines any problem.
That aside, the exclusions you want are found first in the File System Shield’s Expert Settings, you’ll find that in the Real Time Shields section of Avast’s UI.
