VMware Guest OS can't connect after avast program update

Hi,
I’ve been using VMware Server on windows 7 64 bit with no problems until yesterday when the avast program updated and the firewall started working. Now, the guest OS is unable to get a network connection. I’ve tried the obvious, like turning off the firewall, but no luck.
I’ve found older posts that say to eneble the Internet sharing in the expert settings, but still no luck.
I cant seem to find out where the issue is. Avast isn’t showing the bridged network created by VMware. I’ve even run a repair on the VMware server. After which, I tried turning off the firewall again.
Many reboots later, I have not been able to get the guest OS to connect to the network.

What’s going on? How can I fix this?

Welcome to the forums, dhaff13

Unfortunately, I have no experience with VMware but hopefully, someone will be able to help you with the problem soon.

Firewall → Firewall Settings → Expert Settings. Under Preferences select ‘internet connection sharing mode’.
Voila!
