voiceover

Is it possible to change the language in Avast 5 to dutch and keep the English voiceover? I liked the sound of the voice.

Take a look here:

Make sure you change the name of the version 4 file to agree with the version 5 file.

I only changed the “update” voice file file myself.

Have fun.

Thanks for you’re answer. But my problem is when i change the language to dutch i lost all the voices. When i change back to English, they are back.

Don’t change the language to English, just change the sound files.

I wish someone more knowledgeable was here to help.

When you do copy the English file (s) they must be worded exactly the same as the 5.0 files, for instance:

virus_db_updated.wav

Hello,

I have read the demo made on changing standard sounds, but i seem not to be able to change the voiceover ones.

I am using Dutch Avast Free version, on Win 7 Premium 64bit.

I did create a 1033 folder in ProgramData folder, and inserted .wav files with same names as the original ones found in Bob’s folder.

IN Avast settings the 'use voiceover (if available) is checked.

Any help please?

Thanks,

Hello,

Scott and Rednose provided the answer to my problem in the Dutch forum.

For Dutch version of Avast Free, you need to create a folder in ProgramData/Avast/…/Sounds called 1043 (and not 1033 as in the English version)

It is very easy to find out what folder you should create. Just go to :

C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast5\

and look for the name of the folder your language is installed in  We already know 1033 is the English language folder, and 1043 is the Dutch
