After months of trying to identify why my computer crashes when trying to send a fax or receive a voice mail, it appears that the VRDB generator is likely the culprit. Yesterday, after a crash (immediate shut down and reboot), the VDRB generator failed to load upon restart. At that point, I could send faxes without the crashes. Is there a way to stop the VDRB generator from loading on startup so that I may be able to test my theory?
How did you detect this? At avast logs? Can you post the message here?
Set VRDB to manual and not for idle/screensaver time. On manual, it will not ‘automatically’ be generated… But I doubt very much that VRDB will crash your computer.
Can you post any useful information that you have into Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Events, specially ‘Errors’? I mean, also, there should be the crash error there too. You can post the number of the BSOD.
Are you using Windows XP?
If so, please, go to folder \windows\minidump and send the newest (recent) .mdmp files for analysis.
Better if you can compress (zip) them and add some information about the BSOD and the link for this thread.
