The ‘i’ icon should appear… but if you’re using XP it could be hidden.
When you move the mouse or use the keyboard, it stops…
So, you must have the task bar being shown all the time and not hidden icons, stop mouse/keyboard activity…
Won’t be easy just checking the VRDB date into avast skin front panel?
The “I” icon does appear. Im using XP. Only sometimes it dont want to spin. I try turning off the hidden icon, so that everything in the toolbar would show wither its running or not. And i click the “I” icon and started it and i started spining, i guess it worked sometimes. But it only lasted on for like 10min, is that normal?
Isn’t it ok?
You shoudn’t update that frequently the VRDB. It saves the last three versions of info to clean executables. You need at least one ‘clean’ version to VRDB succeed. If you run it daily, for instance, you’ll lost it and will ‘keep’ just the infected ones (last three).
Click ‘FAQ’ in my signature and browse for VRDB, you’ll find more info
The default VRDB interval is three weeks, you can set this lower, I do mine every two weeks as part of my regular system maintenance.
It is not advised to lower the generation interval by a large amount, as Tech mentions three copies are kept and this provides a longer term ability to repair a file that is monitored by the VRDB.
However, I would have thought that regardless of settings, when you click Generate Now (manual generation), the ‘i’ icon should rotate.
That’s what I thought, too. On my system, if the generator’s running then the “i” icon is rotating. And if it’s interrupted by keyboard/mouse activity, the icon temporarily disappears entirely, rather than just stopping its rotation (I use merged icons).
Just to note, not personally to you Mike, that I never intended to say that the non-rotation icon is an expected thing. Something is wrong indeed. Can avastforever confirm this behavior?
Strange dude, but now it ok. But sometimes it does not move. I guess sometimes it work, and sometimes it dont. I guess i have to Restart my comp alot of times if it dont work when im going to do VRDB.
