VRDB not installed?

First of all, I would like to apologize that my English is not very good…

Could you please help me? I downloaded avast Home. During installation avast told me that it cannot install everything since Norton Antivirus Software is installed also. OK, I immediately uninstalled Norton and completed the download.

Now I would like to reinstall avast since I am missing the small ball named VRDB.

Can I install avast a second time by supplying my register-number?

Sorry for my bad English…

You can install avast! as many times as you wish with working registration key (assuming you already got it right?). There is also a chance that you already merged avast! tray icon with VRDB so they appear as just one. You can split them in same menu when right-clicking the only avast! icon next to the clock.

Thank you. I am so happy that I get help so fast!!!

OK I will try to reinstall avast with my valid registration-number.

(Due to your recommendation I tried to split the icon but I did not succeed…)

Here I am again.

I reinstalled avast! home. Unfortunately there is no second icon spinning with an “i”.

How can I find out whether VRDB is working (and correctly installed) or not?

Sorry for bothering you, I am a beginner…

Thanks in advance…

Hi kommissarinrosa,
Hopefully the following picture and instruction help.

Norton program removal tool that can remove the remnants of a number of different Norton Programs:
Removing your Norton program using SymNRT

It may be that there is still some part of Norton remaining, so it may be worth running the above tool and rebooting.

If after doing that and what Bob suggests if you still have the same problem you may need to uninstall avast, reboot and reinstall.

Dear Bob3160,

This was very helpful for me. Thank you very much for the screen-shot. Now I am sure, that VRDB is not installed and I will follow the recommendation given from DavidR.

@DavidR
Yes, I also believes that rests of Norton are disturbing the installation (and my computer). Thank you for the link. I will follow that and I will come back to report!

Welcome to the forums kommissarinrosa and good luck.

@DavidR

Thank you a thousand times!! It worked easily and it was not necessary to uninstall avast. VRDB is now installed!!
I am so happy since Norton disturbed my system anyway.

I am so happy, really!
THANKS!

Welcome to the club…
Norton has disturbed many of our systems. It was the reason I started looking for a new AV program.
I found avast! and have never looked back. ;D ;D
