Although I’ve been using avast! [home] for about a month I haven’t as yet generated VRDB. I’m now thinking of doing so, but have a couple of questions.
There is very little stored on my computer, only approx. 4GB of the HDD is used - about 3GB for the OS [Win. XP Pro SP2] and Program Files and 1GB “miscellaneous”. What, roughly, would the size of VRDB be?
When created, what is the location of VRDB?

C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\DATA\integ avast.int assuming you installed it the default location. Mine is currently just over 7MB.
Thank you for your reply. I have now created VRDB, it only took 13 minutes to do so and is 5.1MB in size.
Over time this will increase slightly as you run it subsequently, because its aim is to be able to maintain three sets of data (see the avast help file for more info on VRDB) as a better means of virus repair/recovery.
The first VRDB seems to take a little longer, now mine take around 6-7 minutes for manual ‘Generate Now’.
