Hi,
Just wondered where the VRDB database that avast 4.8 creates is located?
Is it possible to store large avast files, like VRDB, in a user defined location. I ask as I don’t really like storing databases on the system partition (which is where I guess it will be).
thanks.
The database is most likely small as it only backs up key (emphasis on this word) files. So not worth that much trouble.
The upcoming version of avast (5.0) will no longer provide the VRDB. This version will be out soon in 3 to 4 months roughly. So unless your Operating system is not able to handle this new version then you shouldn’t worry about it
This is where it is stored, C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\DATA\integ\avast.int it will always be in that structure. There is nothing to stop you installing avast on a different partition or hard disk (must be internal).
As has been said there will be no VRDB come avast 5.0.
Hmh… I started to wonder if I was spreading false rumors and I knew I had seen it somewhere. So I did a search of the forums and found from where I had this notion of VRDB.
As has been said its usefulness is now very limited from when it was first introduced as malware has moved forward. It is this reduced value that would drive the issue if it should continue.
