This might sound like a stupid question I install avast today and I was wondering I put on a Screen Saver for him but after it goes on after is montor goes to sleep mode. So my question? Is when is montor is in sleep mode will it still generate VRDB Data Base for him. If not I don’t know where on the computer to stop it from going to sleep mode after the screen saver comes on.
Is Computer is
3200+ Processor
AMD Athlon TM64
512 MB Memory
200 GB Hard Drive
Windows 2000 Professional
Firefox for is Browser
I am not a Computer expert but if anybody can answer this I would apprecate that I told the person it should still (generate a VRDB for is Avast) if I am wrong please let
me know and what to do has easy has possible Thank you
Check the avast help file, Healing, VRDB. So if you have it set to generate when screen saver is running and you have your windows power options set to screen saver (not sleep and have one selected, then yes it should work.
Right click on a clear part of your desktop screen and select properties, see image.
Generate VRDB only when screen-saver is running. avast! will create its database during the time screen-saver is running. It may be any screen-saver, not only the one included in avast!
Thank you DavidR for your help I put the person monitor on sleep for 30 min and the screen saver on 10 mins so I quess after 10 min after the screen saver goes on is monitor will go to sleep after 30 mins.
The VRDB is likely to take a bit of time, hopefully 20 will cover it.
I don’t use a screen saver, I prefer to generate mine (manually using ‘Generate VRDB Now’) every two weeks as a part of my regular system maintenance (weekly) and it takes 8 minutes on my system. That way I know when it will be started and when it is complete.
However I still have set to generate VRDB when the screen saver is running, but since I don’t use a screen saver it would never start.
