I have the latest avast free in three pc.
1.windows 10 p45 motherboard with q6600
when avast installed ,vt-x shows as disabled(with the help of hwinfo64 info).
2.windows 11 laptop t420 with i5-2520M
when avast installed vt-x shows as disabled.
3.windows 11 z97 motherboard with xeon e3-1230 v3
when avast installed vt-x shows as enabled.
Why in the last machine vt-x don’t disabled, even if i have hardware assisted virtualization to enabled in avast options?
Avast HW virtualization is not used on third system for some reason. Could be some other hypervisor is registered on that machine (like VMWare / VBox, …)? . Or the W11 build is not supported (Windows 11 Beta/Dev channel)?
@Spec8472 i don’t have any hypervisor and i am in the same windows version as the laptop. It is possible to be a bug?
Can you please send a support package? It can be sent in Avast UI, troubleshooting settings, “Send Logs”.
Can you tell me with a picture where it is? I cant find it. (i have Greek language)
@Spec8472 maybe you mean avast support tool?
Basically i found the send logs menu from the online help but mine does not have it. It stops at the menu “enable debug logging”
I sent with avast tool: file id: I01AD
ticket number: Spec8472
Thank you Boombastik,
can you please also provide a kernel memory dump? It can be generated using avdump.exe (located in Avast program folder %ProgramFiles%\Avast Software\Avast\avdump.exe) Execute from an administrators console: avdump.exe --kernel --dump_file c:\kernel.dmp. Please, upload the kernel.dmp file to our Avast FTP server: https://support.avast.com/en-us/article/160.
@Spec8472 I uploaded it with name :
Spec8472.zip
According to the dump, Avast virtualization is active for your system. But Avast virtualization was activated later after boot process. The system queries possibility of virtualization during boot and caches this value.
So i need to make any steps to fix it or is is alright ?
(Btw i open hwinfo64 after 30 minutes of the boot to check vt-x value)
No, this not a bug, it is normal, the virtualization is activated as needed by other kernel components.
