Hi there, right now I’m running W8.1.
Should I download and run Driver Talent before downloading (www.drivethelife.com).
Does W-update fix all current known issues.

Replies are welcome, thanks in advance.

Best regards, Hermie

There will always be updates to fix issues.
I have been running Win10 from the get-go.
IMHO, it’s much more user friendly than Win8.1.

If you decide to upgrade to Win10 the drivers will be upgraded automatically.

Thanks Para-Noid for your reply.
Guess I got to go for W10.
What steps do I have to follow.
Currently I’m working on a chromebook pc, I have to get used to W10.

Kind regards, Hermie

Oops! Thanks Bob, 60 plus pages?
I’ll better not start studying, if something is unclear to me I’ll better ask!
Right!

Kind regards, Hermie

It’s better to learn from a tutorial like Bob’s link than through trial and error.
There is a lot of information which will prove advantageous in the long run.
Bob’s link contains useful tips concerning the many Win10 settings.

By the way it takes anywhere from 1/2 hr to a full hour to upgrade to Win10.

A lot depends on the speed of your system and your internet speed.
If both are slow, the update could take much longer.
The key word in doing this update or upgrade is patience.
If you don’t want to go through the entire thread, at least take a look at the tutorials (videos).

I’m considering going to Win 10 again. I had a rough experience with Windows 10, and I know I am not the only one to have experienced bootimes 5+ minutes (Are we in the 1990’s?).

For what I saw, Windows 10 is a fantastic OS though.

There is a solution to the long boot… Either do a clean install or run xbootmgr

Gave xbootmgr a shot. Did more damage then help. However, I might have messed it up though. About to give Windows X another shot in a second
