It’s better to learn from a tutorial like Bob’s link than through trial and error.
There is a lot of information which will prove advantageous in the long run.
Bob’s link contains useful tips concerning the many Win10 settings.

By the way it takes anywhere from 1/2 hr to a full hour to upgrade to Win10.

A lot depends on the speed of your system and your internet speed.
If both are slow, the update could take much longer.
The key word in doing this update or upgrade is patience.
If you don’t want to go through the entire thread, at least take a look at the tutorials (videos).
