I am using AVG Free on win98se. Grisoft will not answer me if detection is provided for “W32.Beagle.AO@mm
Other Names - W32/Bagle.aq@MM, WORM_BAGLE.AC, Win32.Bagle.AG” Does Avast Home edition provide this protection? What benefit to switch from AVG? How difficult?

As far as I know, Yes. The benefit in switching is getting a good AV program like Avast! and the Home addition is free for home use. To remove AVG, run the uninstall program in the Control Panel Add/Remove Programs. Don't forget to register Avast! The registration is free and is good for 14 month. Hope that helps.

Since Beagle is a ITW (In The WIld) virus, every av normally detecs it. Most av’s (if not all) have a list of viruses they detect. Most av companies have that list also on their website.

What benefit to switch from AVG?

All the above that was mentioned, and the fact that there is free help here, even for the home (free) edition of avast, which is run by the avast team. Being an ex avg user i know avg doesn’t provide support for the avg free users.

Avast also updates its virus definitions at least twice a week.
