w7 ultimate 32bit no audio

Could not enable audio no mater haw many times I enable disabled and re installed drivers. Tried microsoft suggestions, youtube videos, etc etc. Disconnected LAN connection and under services.msc stopped avast. This then allowed audio to work, speaker on task bar red cross disappeared. Turned PC off and back on checked avast free version was running, audio still working. Reconnected LAN. Have had other anti virus problems with W7 64bit home edition disabling the LAN had to uninstall and re install anti virus to get LAN working. This was not avast but it seems that obscure problems with W7 disabling drivers can be down to the anti virus software

Could you try something for me?

  1. Open up CMD as admin and run under c:/ prompt:
chkdsk /f

to check your drive for errors first, you may need to restart for it to complete.
2. Then, when you come back run under CMD as admin:

sfc /scannow

Let the process finish and then let me know if there are any errors.

Stop, unless you are pondus or a removal EXPERT on this forums you shouldnt be giving advice. I have permisson from Pondus to aid about directions however I Believe you do not. Not trying to be mean.

Run the ordered logs so someone can check you computer.

If the tools crash your crashes your computer you need to run them in safe mode. And the tools are safe, someimes the AV(s) might interfere

Again, even though sfc /scannow and chkdsk are able to fix issues given he has tried reinstalling the drivers I dont think thats the issue. The post is not to offend you.

I apologize, I wasn’t aware I needed permission to give sound advice (didn’t see any Forum Sticky regarding this), I will go elsewhere. I don’t believe this is a virus/malware infection considering a simple windows file corruption could be the culprit, as there is no reason an Antivirus Program or Malware would disable sound. Reinstalling drivers wont do anything if windows is somehow corrupted. But I’m no expert on these forums. Not trying to be rude…This will be my final post on this topic. Again, I apologize.
