W8RedirectionSupport error 10022 | Avast Free v10.3.2262

hi,
for some days now avast does not let me retrieve or send mails via thunderbird.

C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Avast\log\Mail.log tells me
W8RedirectionSupport error 10022
Cannot connect to IMAP server x.x.x.x (x.x.x.x:993),
or
W8RedirectionSupport error 10022
Cannot connect to POP server y.y.y.y (y.y.y.y:110),

etc.

as soon as i deactivate avast, my mail client is able to retrieve mails again.
ideas?

Make sure that your firewall or other networking software is not blocking outgoing connections from the avast service (AvastSvc.exe).

Please recheck, that’s no valid version.

If my memory isn’t fried, 10.3.x was during the avast 2015 period.

Yep, 10.3.2225 was the latest build back then.

Temperatures over 25c for over a week here, nothing but sun and still my brains are working.
They must be solar powered ;D

But if the user is using that version it really is time for a upgrade.

where a.b.c.d is my mailserver’s ip address
and w.x.y.z is the ip address of the universities mailserver

  1. Download Avast Free Antivirus: https://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_free_antivirus_setup.exe
  2. Follow instructions: https://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed Avast versions…!!)
  3. Reinstall Avast with the downloaded installer from point 1.
  4. Reboot.
