Wajam and Cassiopesa malware?

I recently and unknowingly downloaded Cassiopesa and Wajam. It placed ads and pop-ups saying I need to update Java and Flash on a website I purchase hobby parts from. My java and flash were up to date and when I tried to X out of the message, other tabs would open and not let me close it unless I closed my browser. It was very unfriendly. I finally fixed it by uninstalling the programs from my PC. I did not know what was going on. I wish avast would have caught this and blocked it somehow. I am highly disappointed in Avast for not warning me about this software during the download >:(.
