There is no longer an option to wake computer to run scan in scheduling.
Is there a plan to bring that option back?
Probably not. The need for scheduled scans really isn’t important with today’s modern AV programs.
Your AV checks everything that happens on your system in the background. Anything you add, change, etc.,
is checked by your AV. I personally can’t remember that last time I’ve run a scheduled scan.
Someone else has also reported this.
I must admit I hadn’t noticed as I don’t do on-demand scans (scheduled or otherwise) outside of beta testing and I didn’t join the last couple of betas. I currently have avast 17.5.2302 installed.
By accident or design, I can’t see the point of having ‘scheduled’ scans that don’t have the option to wake the computer. Otherwise what would be the point of a ‘scheduled’ scan. Unless of course it is a default action and undocumented. Regardless of personal feelings on on-demand scans, if it is there is should work.
The strange thing if you look at the context menu help for the Scheduled scan option, it is still there in the help (see attached image). Whilst this is off my win10 system with avast 17.5.2302 installed.
This was also asked/explained over at Malwarebytes forum. What was said was that it was quite tricky to do bc of how windows hibernation work and stuff so malwarebytes removed that option
If i find the topic i will post link
