Please have the patience to read all of this
I downloaded avast antivirus a few days ago since i knew
my windows xp computer had a virus. I ran a scan and it
found 421(!) infected files. I moved all of those files to the
Virus Chest. Then when i looked at the options for what i can
do with the files, i decided to delete them. I deleted all the
infected files permanently. Was this a mistake? Did i just delete
the actual FILES from the comp directly or the virus but the files
are still in the comp?
Now when i turn on my comp, i get this User Environment thing when
i click my account that says its going to load the default profile.
Then it shows a message: Userinit.exe: the application failed to initialize properly
(0x000012d). Click on OK to terminate the application. Then a blue wallpaper shows up
without the icons or the taskbar with the Start button.
this has happened to me before, but it would eventually come up right once i restart it, but now its not.
So, was the deleting of infected files what caused this? How can i fix this?
Also, I have tried ctrl+alt+delete to get to taskmanager but it doesnât do anything.
Thanks for reading the whole thing. I desperately need my computer to work. Thanks again!
Deletion isnât really a good first option (you have none left), âfirst do no harmâ donât delete, send virus to the chest and investigate.
There is no rush to delete anything from the chest, a protected area where it can do no harm. Anything that you send to the chest you should leave there for a few weeks. If after that time you have suffered no adverse effects from moving these to the chest, scan them again (inside the chest) and if they are still detected as viruses, delete them.
Schedule a boot time scanning with avast with archive scanning turned on. If avast does not detect it, you can try DrWeb CureIT! instead.
Use MBAM (or SUPERantispyware or even Spyware Terminator) to scan for spywares and trojans. If any infection is detected, it is better and safer to send the infected file(s) to quarantine (Chest), rather than simply deleting them.
??? what for, he already deleted all the infected files that he found, FPs or not, and his system is broken, would your canned advices repair Windows? >>> read posts before posting non-sense Tech
Your post isnât going to help thread starter either Iâm afraid.
But anyway, come on, there are people who post crazier stuff here sometimes, why donât you go insult them? Or do not complain that Tech posted ânonsenseâ, and I canât remember any other cases where his suggestions wouldnât be any help for thread starter
does your useless drivel help at all? you donât remember other posts from tech where his suggestions wouldnât help ??? youâre kidding, the forums are crowded with his canned messages, irrelevant in more then 70% of the cases, didnât notice Altarir? how do you think the guy reached 50.000 posts hey ;D >>> prepare a few canned messages, post them randomly and you win the 50.000 post bonus, i.e. the right to now regularly post about Comodo on Avast forum >:(
how do you think the guy reached 50.000 posts hey ;D
well, youâre missing the point, he is not the only person who posts irrelevant, helpless stuff. For instance that Asyn has reached âavast evangelistâ status pretty damn fast. How many of his posts were actually helpful?
But now, Tech is actually trying to help. What are YOU doing except insulting him for trying to help?
prepare a few canned messages, post them randomly and you win the 50.000 post bonus
Tech is not posting them ârandomlyâ. He is posting them only in threads where someone is seeking for help with removing virii. And he suggests some nice tools there.
