i get this message.cant restart or fix.cant change/repair/uninstall.
when i press"fix now" the applet says “not responding”.
Also tried downloading the latest version but get " error reading product data" setup cannot continue.

so what next?? many thx for any help.

We have a fresh version 7 out now…

after fully removing version 6 download and install version 7 from here:

Repair avast!:

  1. Control Panel → Add/Remove programs → avast!
  2. Click on ‘Repair’.
  3. Follow instructions.
  4. Reboot.

First uninstall Avast 6 and reboot. If you’re having trouble with one installer package, download a different one from another source and try again. Sometimes that’s all it takes but not always.
