Warning msg from Windows Security

I had recently installed the latest version of Avast Home on my laptop & the battery ran down and it changed the date. I later corrected the date but rec’d a notice from Windows Security that my virus protection was out of date. I re-installed the Avast Home s/w and re-entered the key, and rebooted. I checked to see if I had the latest version running and it shows that it is. Should I be concerned by this warning from Windows Security? Thanks!

My mother’s laptop gets dragged out once a month or so for new Windows updates (she rarely uses it, she uses a desktop machine 99% of the time) and the Security Centre does this all the time, despite the date/time being correct. As soon as Avast auto-updates the Windows Security warning disappears. I’ve found it really doesn’t mean anything, it is simply telling you to update your AV and when that happens Windows SC detects it and is happy.

So when this happens, no need to reinstall Avast IMO. Just let it completely boot up and it should update on its own, provided you have the auto-update feature active and you’re connected to the Net. If not tell it to update manually (once you’re connected to the Net if you’re not) then reboot your machine.

hey MGC@home

I have this problem before last time and now everthing is ok and follow what Darkmage said and it should be fine

Thanks for all the information Darkmage. I’ll try that. I don’t use my laptop often either, so I guess I’ll have to do the updates manually. I appreciate your help.
