"WARNING - YOUR SYSTEM IS UNSECURED"

:o when I place my cursor on the Avast Icon on the taskbar, it says “WARNING - YOUR SYSTEM IS UNSECURED”

Yet, when I look in the program, it says I am fully protected… ???

Yikes!!! I’m already regretting having bought the Avast Internet Security.

Never had any problems with the Free Avast.

Does anyone know what I should do?

Try rebooting your machine. Did that fix the problem?

If not, please give me your OS, (32 or 64-bit), other security software on your machine currently and previously including firewall (FW).

What version of AIS (Avast IS) are you running? Was this an upgrade or a clean install?

What were you doing prior to seeing the “WARNING - YOUR SYSTEM IS UNSECURED”?

This was a clean install…third one >:(

Had not been doing anything…just placed my cursor on it & noticed that it said “WARNING - YOUR SYSTEM IS UNSECURED” nothing was flashing…it was not an alert.

OS=XPpro…Avast Internet Security…not impressed at all… >:( …free was better.

Uninstalled the whole thing & started over again…if this happens again, I am going to write & ask for a refund.

Thanks for your response.

Is there any other security program in this computer? Firewall? Old antivirus?
When does that problem happens, just after booting? All the time?

No other security program…the only one I was using before was the Free Avast.
Windows Defender & Windows Firewall…this happens intermittently…no rhyme or reason to it.

Another thing that has started happening today is that my computer shuts down on it’s own; I was looking at one of my own webpages & suddenly it shut down. I know there is nothing on my web pages to cause it.

Never had these problems before I bought & installed Avast Internet Security.

I was trying to make things better… :stuck_out_tongue:

lauraboivin, please, check the folder C:\ProgramData\Alwil Software\Avast5\log
Are there any files called unpXXXX (where XXXX is a random number) or *.mdmp there?
If so, send them to vlk (at) avast.com
They may contain more information about the problem (maybe a link to this thread).

nothing was flashing...it was not an alert

Personally I think the “a” ball should be green if everything is ok, yellow (yellow) if there’s a problem with avast! and red if there’ an infection.

:D…good plan…but the ball is orange

Thanks…just checked & there’s nothing like what you mentioned.

lauraboivin,

I hope everything works out for you with AIS, but if it doesn’t…

ZoneAlarm with avast! AIS is not recomended

YoKenny,

Who recommended ZoneAlarm with AIS ???

I certainly wouldn’t!!!

Two firewalls will conflict!!! BSOD!!! ::slight_smile:

I recommended ZoneAlarm with avast! 5 Free in The Unauthorized Free Version of avast! Internet Security

(also known as “a to Z Internet Security” ;D)

YoKenny,

I simply added free programs to avast! 5 Free to equal AIS & a bit more.

Some are having problems with AIS & some can’t afford AIS.

Some are tightwads. ::slight_smile:

I find free versions have less problems, are lighter & less annoying. 8)

It’s not a thing that the programmers would like, is it?
I think it’s a little hard to say that the paid version is “worse” than the free. It’s not true.
But lauraboivin’s problem deserves an answer from avast team.

Tech,

I didn’t say or intend to imply that avast! Pro & AIS are worse than avast! Free.

On the contrary, I think avast! Pro & AIS are better than avast! Free.

But you have to admit they are having more problems which I am confident the Avast Team will fix.

The more a software does, the greater potential for problems.

I know that. I was theoretically speaking.

Yes, let’s go back to the main purpose of this thread.

Thank you all for your efforts in trying to help me. I do appreciate it.

I have MagicJack & the Firewall blocks it…thought I have given it permission.

I’ve just turned off the Avast Firewall & will go back to using Windows… ::slight_smile:

I have magicJack also.

It’s automatically allowed in ZoneAlarm Free & Pro.
