Today I tried the offer out to upgrade to Avast Internet Security for free for 60 days but it didn’t work. I chose the Paypal option on checkout and I tried it out twice.
What happened was after I entered my Paypal password after a couple of seconds a pop-up Java-script window asked if it was OK to reload the page. This got me a bit scared so first time I quickly closed this window and was left with an all white window where it looked like the Avast window in the exact same size as the white window was hidden behind the white window. I right-clicked the Avast icon on the Task bar and chose to close Avast and then both the white window and the Avast window went away.
I then tried the same thing a second time but this time when I had the exact same Java-script prompt turn up I figured since the Paypal information on the screen appeared valid and I was shopping inside one of the most popular and used AV software surely it can’t be a problem clicking ‘Yes’ on the Java-script prompt.
However, now that I did that I still got the same white window rather than some kind of confirmation so I really hope I wasn’t fooled to just give away my Paypal password to people who shouldn’t have it >:( !?
Would be crazy to say the least if I ended up in a situation where I just was fooled to give my Paypal password away when I in fact was trying to upgrade my Internet security using Avast products but I certainly hope that’s not the case and that there’s a valid explanation.
