Set the system to max performance (not power saver), disconnect from any networks, don’t start any optional programs, close any program currently running, stop any schedule tasks (except the AV scan), use AC power (not only batteries) and manually shut down your screen if you can (to save power).
This answered me one as ways to make faster speed in Avast 6.1.2…(I don’t remember exactly the version).
1.How can one set the system to max performance?
2. How can one manually shut down the screen (while Avast is performing a scan).
3.In a PC (not a notebook or a laptop)how does it apply the 6th way mentioned above to speed up scanning?
???
The fastest speed in not running any programs? ???
1, Go to control panel\power options and choose max performance
2,If you have hot keys activated on your system it should be the function button + f7, or press the power button for the monitor ;D
3, ???
If your really interested in getting more performace from your system then add more ram.
Like Asyn ???
One question, how did you get from #3 to #6 without #4 and #5? ???
And the current version is 6.0.xxxx not 6.1.xxx or did I miss something? ???
@Rafatxo,
Not only this is a double post from you, this is also a very bad method of “trying” to partially quote my very general original answer.
There is no way to really understand what you really want, unless you were posting in your original topic. And even then, there is a reason I answered in such a general way.
Most of the original description of your problem is not really related to Avast. But even if it was, there is a limit how much anyone can explain and help another user by means of a simple forum post / topic.
Assuming that anyone would like to keep posting so many specific methods and instructions, I “feel” you would be better by consulting some friend (for example) that knows a little more about computers.
If anyone, with any knowledge level, could perform any maintenance task on a system that already has problems, I guess not even one user would pay for any kind of service related to computers.
Please don’t misunderstand me. I don’t mean to offend you, and there is no reason for you to feel offended (or any other negative perception you would think about). I just think that there are many ways to find help, and each one should try to find the best help in accordance with the specific situation.
My sig is correct.
-
If you using Windows 7 and maybe even Windows Vista and have an available USB port put a USB thumb nail drive in it and activate Windows “ReadyBoost”
-
To manually shut down the screen while Avast is running just turn the screen off by depressing the monitor’s “on/off” button.
Not yours, the OP. ;D
