We found an UNREPUTABLE ADD-ON in your browser

Hello,

Been using AVAST Internet Security for a number of years now.

In the version I have on my PC now (Windows 10), I got a pop-up from AVAST concerning an unreputable add-on in my browser. Some big problems with this. The pop-up does not tell me which browser and which user (there are 5 user accounts on this machine). I am the administrator. If was was to click resolve, I have no idea which account is being “cleaned” or again, where is the problem.

Can you make a fix to the system giving more information about things going on behind the scenes, especially regarding popups. Is this information hidden within a log file? I went through them under c:\ProgramData\ AVAST Software\Avast\log but have no idea where to look or which one to look in. One file within this directory Browser-Cleanup-silent.log has some information on browser stuff; but I don’t know what to look for within it. The other files within this directory are either locked (currently being used) or have machine language or other gibberish I can’t discern.

I have attached a screen shot showing the pop-up and lack of information it contains.

After I run a smart scan, I get unspecific information about performance issues, etc. When I click on resolve all, I get more options and can look at detailed information. I assume you would get detailed information if you chose to resolve the issue, since the first step in resolving it is getting a description of the issue, and then choosing whether or not to address it.

I am a customer who uses Avast. I have no affiliation with Avast or any other software company.

I hope that is helpful.

Perhaps someone at Avast could confirm that this is the correct way to proceed (or state otherwise).

Thanks for the reply. When I “address” the issue by clicking on the Resolve button, it goes into another popup window with no useful information. At the present, I am working on my mom’s PC and got a similar popup about an “unreputable” add-on on this machine. Like my home machine, it is Windows 10, with Firefox, IE, Chrome browsers and three accounts (Admin, her’s, guest) — which raises the question which browser and what is the name of the add-on feature that is so bad?

I will attempt to attach a screenshot of the second popup.
