This has been discussed recently in the forums as the correction of the escalating permissions issue caused some win2k users to get access blocked completely to the avast4 folder. That too has been corrected, so I believe it has been corrected but secunia hasn’t picked up on it.
I followed that discussion. This permission issue has been one of my major concerns for a long time. - I would like to hear a comment on this from the alwil team, though.
Do you mean the original one started by toadlife or the recent one started by Tech ?

Surely you can check the permissions issue by checking your avast4 folders ?
I can’t check this as I kept my format as fat32 when I upgraded to XP Pro, and I don’t have simple file sharing enabled , so those additional security measures aren’t available to me.
Also toadlifes post explains how to take steps to avoid it and that “The chances of this issue being exploited are very small IMO.”
