Web access blocked for most pages

I just switched from AVG after they started to sell personal data. I use Chrome and can access AOL for e mail but not other websites.

I tried turning off Web Protection and could access other sites, but turned it on to be protected.

I tried entering my banks address in URL’s to exclude which didn’t work so how do I access other sites?

Did you remove AVG according to vendors instuctions and using AVG removal tool?

No, I used Windows Uninstall (following the instructions in ComputerActive magazine).

Does that make a difference?

There may be leftover files that conflict

After uninstalling AVG…
Make sure you have the latest avast version installed.

I downloaded Avast last week, checked and its up to date.

How do I access the program without Internet access on my desktop, ido have access on my iPad or turn off Web Protection

You mean AVG removal tool? ... right click avast tray icon and pause shields
