web browser protection

Is there a problem with the web browser protection? I often get webpage unavailable. I refresh and there it is , weird. I saw on this forum to disable webpage protection, so I did, Things improved, then got worse. Just installed 2015 version. Now the problem is really bad. Let me know what you guys think. It’s your baby. Just switched to AVG. Sorry, but I’ve had it

Just switched to AVG. Sorry, but I've had it
why ask for help then .... ???

thought someone there should know, pardon me

It would have been simpler to resolve the problem

I’m listening, speak

Was it on a specific website where you experienced the problem if not
Are you clearing the cache in your temporary internet files as that can cause a similar problem

It is virtually all web pages, and yes I have cleaned the cache, both manually and with CCleaner

Did you have the same problem with webshield disabled

A few months ago I came to this forum with the same problem. I found a post which said Avast was aware of the issue, but in the mean time, disable webshield. So I did. Things did get better, But lately they started getting worse again. Then this morning Avast wanted to upgrade to Avast 2015 free. I allowed it to do so. After that, nothing would open. So I disabled webshield again, but this time it had no effect. Webpages still didn’t open. I uninstalled Avast, put in AVG. Problem went away. I am now scanning the entire computer with AVG. It is 82% done and has found 6 viruses. However I won’t really know what these are until it finishes. They may not be viruses at all. I’ll keep you posted. From looking at some of the recent posts it seems I am not the only one with problems concerning Avast 2015 free

A few months ago, avast won’t have been version 2015 10.0.2208, but avast 2014 9.0.x and the web shield has been revamped since then, as it is now possible for the web shield to scan HTTPS pages (depending on what OS you were running). Initially in the early beta/RC versions there were problems with the the HTTPS scanning.

But that was supposedly resolved in the current 10.0.2208 version.

The problem would go away with AVG as seemingly it doesn’t scan web content.

Unfortunately without avast installed it isn’t possible to have you try things and to post screenshots, etc. of the problem, we would be speculating as to the cause.

oh well, it’s your baby, and as I said twice, I installed 2015 this morning, so, a few months ago, obviously I was running 2014.

I have said this before … I am a chemist. If the chemical industry behaved like the computer industry, every damn chemist in the USA would be in jail. Does the word incompetent mean anything in this industry? … anything at all!

Thank god there are alternatives.

Considering the number of post on this issue or something very similar, I will return in 6 months to see if it been resolved. And as one other person here in this forum put it, no I’m not going to pay for problems

You are not going to get answers either unless you are willing to cooperate in resolving the issue.
If you want help, we can do that. If you don’t want help and want more infections good luck with avg.

If you want help please provide more information…
OS? Firewall?
Any other security software you have now or ever had?
If uninstalled how was it removed?

If you don’t want the browser protection, don’t install it. Use the custom install.
BTW, I don’t have the browser protection installed. I rely on the three resident shields for my protection. 8)
