web mail

I still cant get avast! to work with my netscape webmail.
it says imap server down, i take avast1 off it works
but besides that all is great and working fine.
I tried mozilla(netscapes twin) and got the same thing
I dont think it is compatable with netscape mail

P.S.
it works fine with my pop mail

nets,

Avast1 ??? What Avast do you have, Home or Pro? and version (should be 4.319).

When you ran the Mail Protection Wizard during setup, did you check Protect all my accounts? If you did, then Avast will scan all incoming and outgoing email unless you change the settings.

If you entered the proper SMTP and POP3 coding into Avast, then it should be fine.

Recheck the configuration and let me know.

techie

mozilla email is scanned by avast ( i use it everyday)

I think he is having problem with his IMAP protocol, which I refer him to Techie101 post above.

net,

Thats great! Avast is working to protect you now.
Unfortunately, unless the email is downloaded to your computer, Avast can’t scan it, so in general. webmail is not protected from viri.

However, most decent webmail vendors have some kind of antivirus program so check with them to see what they use.

Glad I could help.
