I have been having problems with Web Rep the last few days. Sometimes it works, and other times it shows no bars on well know sites like Amazon, etc. Is anyone else having this problem?
Sometimes the correct number of bars appear green after a time lag of 10-20 seconds.
me too on avast free version 6 win 7 64bit and chrome…sometimes firefox too, but more with chrome…seems to come and go…
others have been reporting the same last couple days…
Agreed. Sadly.
I also experience the same behaviour under Firefox 10.0.2 (ad-hoc when it works, but mostly not)
I think that is more likely to be a backend server issue than anything else. Obviously over the last few days the servers would be working overtime.
But I don’t know why I would see the forums 3 greens but amazon.co.uk 3 greys, but after a forced page refresh, 3 greens.
I decided to go ahead and uninstall and reinstall just to be sure I had no problems with that like some I have read. Everything went fine. WebRep was working on both computers a few hours ago. Now I have one computer it works and one computer that has only gray bars. Both computers on the same router setting side by side. The one WepRep is not working also has not shown updated in myavastcom account. Confused, anything to try? slybo
Just the forced page refresh, hold the shift key whilst clicking on the Refresh icon or F5.
But in all honesty I don’t get overly excited with the webrep even when it is working, for me it is just guidance and I exercise the same care no matter what bars are shown.
I agree that it is probably a backend server problem. I also just noticed that I am getting no Web Rep ratings at all in search results and I do not have it checked to surpress the ratings.
Thanks for the replies everyone.
You’re welcome.
Problems here aswell (Chrome 17 and Comodo Dragon 17.4). Sometimes the WebRep 3 bar toolbar button is greyed out, sometimes it works, but it never appears at the end of sites on my search results page.
Also, does the phishing filter only work if WebRep is working properly?
This does not sound right I know but. I decided to set up a myavastcom account. It got messed up when I uninstalled and reinstalled both computer and landed up with 4 computers listed so deleted the two it showed not working. But then noticed the WebRep not working computer also had not updated information at myavastcom so I deleted it and also deleted it from avast on the computer and after all that WebRep is working on that computer. Does the myavastcom account and WebRep have anything to do with each other or was this just by chance? slybo
Forgot to say the computer WebRep was not working on, after deleting the information I made the myavastcom connection again, then WebRep starting working.
i think it was just timing slybo…i don’t have a myavastcom account and web rep comes and goes…sometimes it works for several searches, and then just stops…i’m guessing avast servers are getting loaded so will probably be well in a day or so
I have a whole list of sites in my Favorite bar and all show green in WebRep except gray in calendar of updates. As you say maybe just servers.
Let’s face it. Avast 7 is a work-in-progress that was nowhere near ready to move out of beta, evidenced by the fact that the Avast techies have no more idea what’s causing the WebRep problem than the rest of us.
Well if you generally have greens for other sites and on is all grey it may be that there are no or insufficient votes for that site. Hover the mouse over the webrep icon to click it to expand.
not related to 7…i’m losing it on 6…
it’s back again now tho
Five days since Avast 7’s launch and still no solution for this? Even if one is not available yet, could someone from Avast at least give a rough idea how long it will take to get one?
