After I make a call with Skype, Skype opens a new tab in my browser asking for feedback. Starting yesterday Skype hasn’t opened a new tab asking for feedback, but a pop up in the lower right-hand corner of my screen says “ashwebshield has blocked ###.###.###.###, port####”. Unable to get through it changes ports a few times. After a while I get a message in my Skype GUI asking me to please give feedback on my calls.
If web shield blocks it is usually because there is something in the URL Blocking have you got anything in the URL Blocking using wildcards that might be responsible. Changing ports won’t have any effect if the IP is still the same and being trapped.
I know nothing about how skype works (unavailable on dial-up) so I can’t be of much practical help.
But signature files don’t block they detect and alert and that isn’t a normal infected file/url alert and as far as I aware nothing has changed in the web shield functionality.
Are you running the Beta version of avast ?
Is there anything in the avast log viewer, warning section that gives any more information ?
Your welcome.
It is most certainly a mystery, I’m not sure if you can add the IP address in the Exceptions, e.g. http://###.###.###.### (I don’t know if it accepts IP addresses or not) and see if that works as a temporary work around until someone can give a definitive answer.
