Here is what i got:
First screenshot of the site: i clicked on the link
Second scrennshot: Avast gave me the warning and I clicked on Abort Connection
Third screenshot: I got the download window anyway
Fourth scrennshot: Avst Web Shield registered the infected page
the oethr two screenshots
Firefox and Webshield have done the job no download allowed here however like Tech I use a download manager and my FF Option settings are sightly different to the settings Davidr Posted.
I’m using the Flashgot FF extension with Free Download Manager( Link in General Forum Updates section) This is the option settings I use (See image) hope this helps
people having problems with webshield using Arovax Shield??
do you mean I should get this flashgot extension? If both you and tech got the server error wanring while you have this extension then the problem is firefox itself. Shouldn’t be Avast able to block it with a normal FF? Well…if this is the solution I’ll try it. but I hope Avast will really be able to block the download. i’ll try now and let you know. thanks!
tried fashgot. And with the same setting you showed me. nope. i just blocked the page. Thanks for the help anyway.
I’m sure the Flashgot extension is useful Only if you use/have a download manager? I’m not saying
that this will solve the problem, I’m just pointing out that Webshield works fine with my FF
configuration using Flashgot and FDM
Emy, i don’t have flashgot … though i have read about that extension.
But about you getting download offer after an abort connection message, I wish someone would be able to answer.
That does not need any browser extension or any such thing.
Must be something in your computer.
You did have some security apps more than me ![]()
EDIT
If this was some common problem all are suffering. Webshield finding some and you still get asked. I am SURE it would have been posted hre many times.
So emy, something is sure wrong with your antivirus setup.
Even I poor soul running Sygate firewall with it having a quite negative impact on outbound control with avast webshield proxy have always found Avast working fine for me
Well…I blocked that page. As long as i can abort manually and Web Shield warns me it’s ok. thanks for the help.
Are you using Arovax shield ?
err…I don’t even know what’s that.
I’m not a pc tech either. I don’t know what to touch of Avast configuration. So I’ll relay on Avst at least to tell me if something is bad and on myself to stop it. It’s kind of annoying but it will work. Thanks
lol if you don’t know what it is then you don’t have it. My reason for asking is that it can have some
settings which have adverse affect on some programs /extensions/.exe files
sorry I’m at a lost as to what is causing this issue?? ???
Since it’s not a common issue I guess all i can do is hope that the next version of Avast will work with this. Thanks anyway.
She is having a problem, getting a warning from webshield and still getting asked if to save that file to a computer. Not normal guys and girls that to happen here.
Emy tried that eicar site, same thing.
We should think her as a troll?
Do you have the same Webshiels setting as these
I’m not a troll ![]()
No. I did have just the port 80. What’s port 8080?
And that silent mode was unchecked. I’ll try again. Thanks!
[edit] tried. it was worse. this time I didn’t get the Web Shield message. Just the boot alert and the window to download the file or not. ??? What concern me is if I’ll happen in a site that will NOT ask to save or abort a download. ![]()
Sorry I’m at a loss I bet it just some small configuration problem somewhere
Someone else may have the answer for you I know how annoying these things can be
after all what you’re after is total Webshield protection or in this case disconnection ![]()
Thanks for the help anyway. I wish it will be fixed with the next version. At the moment I’ll try a total uninstall and install of firefox. thanks for the suggestions.
Nothing worked. I tried uninstalling and installing Firefox and Avast. I tried Avast in english and in italian. Nothing. And I treid using opera. Even worse. Web Shield didn’t picked that file at all. I guess it’s my pc. i can only cross my fingers and hope Avast will keep alerting me. ![]()
