Just upgraded avast free to v.6.0.1367 and with web shield on the internet connection resets
every time you try to load a page. With it off it works fine.
using win7 (64) and Online Armour firewall with it’s web shield off.

We need more info about the issue. What you exactly meant by “internet connection resets”.
Dose that mean, you are unable to visit websites when the avast! Web-Shiled is enabled?
When surfing if i active web shield it immediately throws up a connection reset page in the browser each time i refresh or start a new page"
I’ve tried to disable a combination of options for web shield but this does not help.
what happens if you turn off firewall ?

Try this…
avast! GUI → Real-Time Shileds → Web-Shileds → Main Settings → Uncheck Web Scanning and Check Scan traffic from well know browzer processes only.
Please update us with results.
it works. The firewall has been configured to trust all avast programs etc the same as i had it set-up prior to upgrade??
you mean it works when you turn off firewall ?
delete all avast rules in your firewall and create new…
Maybe I misundertood your suggestion to the OP, but that seems almost like disabling the web shield.
reset all oa firewall rules and every thing is working for default web shield setting.
