Web Shield not running.

HI I have just reinstalled avast again cause of script blocker stopping again.

I cannot get Web shield to work it keeps saying is waiting for a sub system to start.
So i have 6 out of 8 providers working
Program version 4.6.691 Professional
vps 0531.3

WindowsXP SP 2

I am very close to uninstalling Avast permanently because of the trouble with script blocker.

Have you given web/shield the correct access via your firewall??

As far as i know nothing was changed on the firewall .
i even turned of the firewall no different

Firewall settings, the following programs should be allowed access to the Internet via-your firewall:

ashServ.exe–[antivirus service]
ashWebSv.exe–[Web Scanner] (allows server rights)
ashMaiSv.exe–[E-Mail Scanner Service]( email rights)
ashUpdSv.exe–[Update Service]
avast.setup—[Update executable]

are all services running as per attached gif for Win XP SP2

In sevices Avast Web scanner was set to disable i set it for Automatic do you need to reboot for the change to take affect.

Just try restarting the service to see of that works failing that a reboot would be required

I tried restarting the service again and now it is working like a dream. I feel so stupid :-[.

crofty pleasure mate any time glad to be of help :wink:

with regards to script blocker if your using FireFox it seems to me SB

dosn’t come into play very much If you really want to test SB use IE and

Windows Media Player to really test SB failing that

Try a repair of avast. Add Remove programs, avast! Anti-Virus, Change/Remove

button and scroll down to Repair, click next and follow. You need to be on-line

to do this. reboot
