WEB SHIELD NOT SCANNING

Hi I Am Using Avast Free AV (5.0.545)
The Web Shield Is Not Scanning Any Thing. In The Program’s UI It Says Its On But Its Not Scanning I Removed Avast! And Rebooted , Re-installed Avast! And It Still Doing it!
Any ways i can fix this?

See Its Showing Pages Scanned 0/0

No clue. Old AV or firewall, maybe? Any installed before Avast!?

Nope, No Old AVs And Firewall Is Configured For Avast

It says running but scans nothing…what firewall in use? The web shield needs an outbound to function. edit:port12080 says the Avast! faq.

I Do Not Think Its My firewall (Using COMODO firewall) Avast! Is Configured For The Web And Coz The Network Shield and Scanning All Good

Oh, Ok As Long As You Are Sure, Thats The Only Thing I Can Think Of, Other Than It Doesn’t Scan SSL, Which This Page Obviously Is Not, So If Its Still Blank, I Can’t Say…

try this:

in Firefox proxy settings: >>>
http proxy:127.0.0.1 port:12080

then, disable the self-defense module in Avast, and add that line in webshield.ini:
OptinProcess=firefox.exe >>> save, and don’t forget to re-enable the self-defense module.
(you might also have to disable avast services to do these changes)

Hmmm… Aren’t that the default settings? Why should we add Firefox as an optin?

just for troubleshooting purpose, for those with a non-working web shield. The Firefox http proxy setting change worked for someone else whose webshield didn’t scan anything, but was running too, like here. As to adding FF as an optin, just in case, that wasn’t needed for the other poster I just mentioned. But specifying the proxy settings in Firefox was.

I know…
Hope the programmers do not take these workarounds as necessary… Something seems fishy if WebShield does not scan in some systems, don’t you think?

yeah like a few other things like services stopping, the firewall refusing to start, no updates etc…luckily my system hasn’t been affected by any of these issues so far.

The OP hasn’t said what browser he is using in this topic or the other (unrelated) topic, where he had other comodo related problems.

So we will have to wait for confirmation on that.

Cool Thanks! Its Working Now I Changed Firefox’s Settings To 127.0.0.1 , port:12080

glad it worked
