Web Shield Probelms After Update To Firefox 27

After updating to Firefox 27, Avast real time shields has stopped scanning Facebook pages and instead says
A script started by C: \ Program Files (x86) \Mozilla Firefox\ Firefox.exe. There web shield also seems to be scanning less then normally on YouTube as well.

What avast version are you using (9.0.2013 being the latest) ?

Do you have any specific youtube examples, I have just updated firefox to 27.0, I can’t check Facebook as I don’t have an account.

How do you know it is scanning less that would I imagine be difficult to determine what was previously scanned against what is now scanned.

EDIT: During the course of the day prior to update of firefox my statistics state 70,000+ scanned items for the web shield and 800 by the file system shield. I stopped and restarted the web shield to zero the web shield count and monitor it.

If you open a YouTube channel and then check the avast web shield, it will show
A script started by C: \ Program Files (x86) \Mozilla Firefox\ Firefox.exe

Sorry I don’t understand the point you are trying to make with this “A script started by C: \ Program Files (x86) \Mozilla Firefox\ Firefox.exe”

Firefox will be the initiating process requesting the connection that will be redirected by the web shield.

I asked what avast version you are using as I don’t see how you are checking the web shield, as the avast 9 version has combined shields into the Statistics section.

I’m getting this instead of actual scans, like what they are suggesting I think

Well that is still being scanned, whatever it is as it is in the ‘Last scanned items’ list. The problem is how to determine what that script it.

I don’t see exactly what is meant to have changed in FF 27.0 whether it is handling Youtube requests differently or what.

Seems to do this with Facebook as well and I can also confirm Avast isn’t scanning Facebook pages, I assume its Firefox 27 as my other laptop without the update seems to be scanning it perfectly.

Since nothing has changed in avast 9.0.2013, I can only assume that firefox 27.0 is handling youtube and facebook differently to 26.0.

Yes it seem so, I assume this topic at least alerts avast to this.

Yes, otherwise it would be the same on firefox 26.0 if it was avast that changed the way the web shield works.

Hopefully they will pick up on this.
