Web shield w Netscape 7.2 not working but works fine with IE6.

Forgive me if I missed this in doing a search but Webshield is not working with Netscape 7.2 but works with IE 6.0.029. I have installed the new Beta version and still have the same problem. I have XP Pro sp2 w/all updates. I set webshield to display detailed info on displayed action and with both browsers went to the eicar web page. With IE, the displayed action can be viewed and Avast sounds off when clicking on any of the download files. With Netscape 7.2, there is no notification and it will let me download the files without a sound. Does Netscape use a different port than the default http port 80?

I did not configure anything with webshield and it seems to work fine with IE. I also tried turning off Microsoft Firewall but that did not work in the case of Netscape.

After doing a little more searching in the forums, I found someone have the same trouble with Mozilla and the fix is the same. In Netscape 7.2, set proxy to localhost 127.0.0.1 with port 12080. Seems to work okay now and hopefully it is fixed in the next update. From what I have read, you should not have to do this with Win XP.

Yes, it should be transparent…
Maybe it’s not working with Netscape but only with other browsers… :-[ :stuck_out_tongue:
