What browser do you use? I ask I have seen that avast doesn’t “accept” all browsers. Could you also give more information. What version of avast do you use and what browser do you use.
i use ie and chrome …and ver 5.1.864…and if i dont use this proxy then the web shield could work…that is funny…i heard that some people set a proxy to help avast that cant support their browser but mine not…and this is important to me if i dont use this proxy i could not surf many websites such as this forum…
Well the new 5.1.864 version of avast should be able to work with multiple ports now and not with the old port 80, you used to have to add the port as Igor mentioned.
Effectively that would have to have port 8081 included in the list, that is what you should be checking, see image example of mine, which has port 8081 set as one of the HTTP ports.
Now unless your proxy is using a different protocol (not HTTP) possibly a VPN then I don’t know if even with port 8081 listed it would work.
Interestingly your image of the webshield.ini has port 8081 listed, so I’m thinking there must be a VPN at work here. Or some other form of control/restriction.
I’m trying to get at why it might not work, if you use it for use with another application, VPN or anonymous browsing, etc. then that is likely to be using a protocol other than HTTP and the web shield can’t handle that protocol.
