There should be 6 processes running and there are only 5. On my Web shield it says “This provider is waiting for a subsystem to start.” What does this mean?

Update: I restarted and now all six shields are running, but when I tried to open the virus chest I got this message: Program cannot use Chest client: (null)
—>Description: Access is denied
There was a virus in that chest and for some reason I just wanted to check and see if it was still in there.
Does anyone know what this means?

If your using avast 4.8, you should have 7 providers.

ANOTHER UPDATE:
I finished a scan with AVAST and it found a Trojan. I think it was Win32 something or other. I selected to put in in the Virus Chest and all indications are that was successful, but I still can’t open the chest.
If you directly run C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashChest.exe, will it work?
Did you have any other antivirus in the past in this computer?
There is no ashChest.exe. There is only ashChest.dll. I looked through them all twice to make sure I didn’t miss it.
I ran the repair and that didn’t work. I can’t figure it out. It worked yesterday. Any other ideas? Is the installation corrupt or something?

Just curiously chiming in here … There should be 7 Providers in avast! 4.8? I must be missing one. I only have 6 and have always had 6 as far as I know. I have:
Instant Messaging … Internet Mail … Outlook Exchange
P2P Shield … Standard Shield … Web Shield
Which one am I missing? Are you talking about the Network Shield as the 7th Shield? I don’t have a Network setup. I guess that’s why it doesn’t appear.
My web shield is not functioning well.
I have tested it on http://www.eicar.org/anti_virus_test_file.htm
At times it is detecting the virus but even when I click abort connection, the download window appears(It is not terminating the connection).
At times it is the standard shield which is detecting the virus.
Any idea how to fix this.

What browser were you using ?
Exactly what eicar test were you downloading ?
If by https: then the web shield wouldn’t intercept it as it doesn’t scan secure (encrypted) traffic, it can’t.
Not all files will be scanned automatically by the standard shield, non executable files, like zip files as they are inert, you have to extract and then run the file/s inside before they present a risk. That is why we need to know exactly what eicar test file was downloaded and if it was over https, etc.

The web shield is now working fine with the http and I am using XP. I think I had wrongly configured it.

Why did you have to change any WebShield configuration when in XP it’s transparent, automatic?
