Hi,
I’d want to know if web shield scan only browser navigation or also navigation of other apps like facebook app, google currents.

It could be configured to scan only browsers.
It scans all http traffic.
Edited: I’ve though this was the PC forum, not the Mobile.

on Android it protects only the browser.

Hi Teox,

Webshield currently works only with the stock Android browser. It can’t be used to scan any other http traffic done via other apps. If some app uses the stock browser to show some web content, then Webshield will scan the url as usual.

Https is secured. That’s the reason for it. It’s encrypted.

So if you install a different browser other than the stock browser on an Android phone, the web shield will not protect you? For example, if I were to put Opera or FF on the phone, the web shield would not scan it?

Exactly. This is not an avast! problem or limitation. This is due to Android OS architecture afaik, although I’m not an expert on this.

Thank goodness I use the stock browser with https. I hope Android changes this in the near future because a lot of people do not use stock browsers and do not realize this. Interesting.
