Why Webrep is not getting integrated into Mozilla Seamonkey or MS IE8? both now use 3.5+ Firefox core engine, Mozilla Seamonkey is specially compatible with FireFox, it adds plug-ins/complements/themes just like FireFox, Seamonkey is like FireFox’s big brother, just because Seamonkey is a suit of applications not just a browser and MS IE8 is practically a skin of FireFox. Any comments?
Other browsers will follow IE and Firefox.
Most probably it is a problem of market share. Google Chrome has more users than Seamonkey, for instance, and it is in front of it when avast will think on development…
IE obviously does NOT use Gecko engine, at all. Seamonkey - given the market share (close to 0%) one would assume it’s simply a matter of priorities.
To put it mildly - this is absolutely unfounded claim, as already noted above. Anyway, IE8/9 should work w/ WebRep, if you don’t get the extension then it’s most likely a matter of upgrades from 5.x or 6.0 betas where it didn’t work correctly, a clean install should fix your issue.
True but I think would be easier to make a plug-in for Seamonkey/IE8, because of the similarity with Avast FireFox plug-in, than to Chrome, would be almost effortless IMHO.
Oh no no, it’s true, I followed the news about this from the very beginning, MS IE7 dev team was advised by Mozilla FireFox dev team directly, this news was published by Mozilla and other web news sites, perhaps you missed this fact. You can see clearly the way IE7/8 behaves, is almost identically to Firefox, MS only changed the names for complements, plug-ins and other features and added small ones, but you can recognize Firefox functionality all over IE7/8. Another fact is that IE8 is based on Firefox 3.5 core engine or better, another big news on the web that you seemed to have missed.
Firefox core engine is not based on Gecko anymore, Seamonkey left Gecko engine for Firefox’s, Seamonkey 2.xx is also based on Firefox 3.5 core engine. Firefox core engine was written from scratch as an evolved version of Gecko focused on speed and lightweight, security was improved in versions 2 and continued improving over subsequent versions.
BTW, Webrep is installed in IE8; I use Win7 x64 Ultimate.

I checked and updated my info: they say Trident is the base of IE and that MS invited the Firefox dev team to help them develop Firefox, they would even “donate” source code… well, L. O. L.
Ha! You have to be a retard to not realize that Mozilla on it’s own made a faster, easier, smaller, safer and more powerful browser that IE5/6 ever dreamed to be, so Microcrap called Moz FF dev team so they can help them with IE7 dev since IE6 blows, specially its security feature. That’s why IE7/8 looks (Tabs for the first time, even they were old tech for Mozilla) and you can handle things just like in Firefox? Microcrap might have given some light or new ideas for Firefox but the one that benefit the most is definitively IE7. IE7 made radical changes in mostly every aspect respect to IE5/6 and Firefox just went to version 2, Firefox was already better, with version 2 it just kept evolving. Same thing for IE8 and FF 3.5+.
I didn’t saved the news article but I clearly read that IE7 was based on FF 2 and IE8 on FF 3.5, as simple as that of course Micrcrap has lots of money, power and influence and won’t admit it, they just add the code to Trident.
Just think about it: Microcrap has billion$ and needs to “help” Mozilla that without much money made a better and more powerful browser that IE ever was? not only in Windows (any version) but on Linux, MacOS, even mobile/portable devices? of course not. IE dev team obviously bought the help of FF dev team (I presume Mozilla needs the money since they are non-profit but they need to pay bills anyway) since IE dev team don’t have what it takes to make a FF with all the billion$ they have, so why do it if you can buy it? that’s the mediocre philosophy of Microcrap, most of their developing software products are bought, some were freeware and now Microcrap has made little improvements and made them software with mediocre functionality at best like anything they do. I bet that Microcrap offered huge amount of money for the FireFox technology and rights; help developing it? my left buttock!

I’m here to discuss in a reasonable way and all I find is, don’t give him attention, he is wrong close the thread, like little kiddies trying to get attention to them? I thought people here where adults with knowledge about computer tech, looks like I’m wrong.
