There are different opinions about WebRep.
Some users, like you and me, do not trust in reputation features.
Others, want to know what others think and for them it’s useful and reliable.
I agree with Tech it is as it is in it’s present form basically useless. However in the future avast will incorporate whitelist/blacklist into the WebRep making it more of a useful security feature. Hopefully it will be part of avast v. 7.0.xxx.

A lot of site rating applications use user ratings to determine the safety of a site.
Look at WOT (Web Of Trust) for example.
These are only truly effective if user ratings are moderated by a team of administrator’s and moderators to get rid of false ratings .
Maybe other sources could be used like popular blacklists/whitelists.
Well, WebRep is what it is, atm.
If you don’t like it, don’t use it.

WOT works the same way. 
i use both wot and webrep,but not for security -because as some have mentioned they aren’t really effective in that department- rather to give me a general idea of a site’s usefulness or lack thereof,just a general,raw idea.
for security you’ll need something more serious,addons like avg linkscanner,m86security secure browsing,or the 1 i use,bitdefender trafficlight.
Basically in its present form WebRep “is” a survey.
The should be sites and search engines and Anti virus to processors rep , vote of Internet users It is not Perhaps good
