WEBREP

Can anyone tell me how to remove WEBREP extension from Firefox 26. It tries to reinstall itself every time Firefox starts up asking me to allow the install. It is already there but I don’t want it and cannot uninstall the damned thing. There is no uninstall button for Firefox so please don’t suggest I do that. I tried deleting the extension file from C: Avast etc but it won’t let me do that either even using special software. This is most annoying. This extension is not compatible with Firefox in any version.

Thanks
Jim

Click on tools, add-ons, extensions and you can disable it. It’s called Avast Online Security.

Go to uninstall programs or Programs and Features, click on avast then click uninstall and once you receive the next screen choose “change” where you’ll be given the option to untick any feature not wanted including AOS ( Avast Online Security )

You can also disable certain parts of AOS via the browser security icon/ settings at the top of your browser if you only want to disable webrep.

@craigb,

Would going to program and features and clicking uninstall then change require a restart?

In my opinion I think it’s much more simple to disable it it firefox extensions.

Just my 2 cents.

Disabling is obviously easier but if the OP wants the whole feature removed then the options are placed before them :slight_smile:

Not sure if reboot is required after removing AOS but I would recommend doing one anyway.

When in doubt, Reboot. :slight_smile:
