I have set the option for webshield action to ASK for all tabs.
But when an alert pops up I only get showed BLOCK.
So it is impossible to download a setup file that is detected as PUP but is not for me.
Why doesn’t avast ask, although the settings say so?
Yes that is correct, as the only Action option in the web shield is to Abort connection.
To be able to download something that is considered a PUP then you would have to pause/stop the web shield temporarily, or exclude the page from the web shield, both of which carry a risk.
Well, that’s not comfortable, isn’t it?
One choses to be asked and then there is only one option to “chose”.
I obviously misunderstood the meaning of the option “Ask”, but asking and then give at least two choices (Block or Ignore) is what the alert should do and not force me to pause the web shield.
For a PUP ignore would be OK also. In my case avast defines programs for reading the Windows registration key or restoring the password as PUP. That’s fine, but sometimes one wants such programs.
